Notable artists were honored at the 2020 Soul Train Awards, which aired Sunday night.

Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell returned to host this year's virtual ceremony for a third year, announcing a stellar line-up of special performances, unforgettable moments and special appearances from some of today's hottest artists and entertainers.

Chris Brown earned four awards, including Best R&B/Soul Male Artist, while H.E.R. followed with two wins, including Best R&B/Soul Female Artist, which she dedicated to the legacy and history of R&B and soul music.

Brandy kicked off the night with a performance of b7 singles, "Say Something" and "Borderline," after winning the Soul Train Certified Award.

Her "Boy is Mine" collaborator Monica was honored with the sixth annual Lady of Soul Award and performed a medley of her hits including her 1995 debut single, "Don't Take It Personal (Just One of Them Days)," and her latest single, "Trenches."

Monica was honored for her outstanding career achievements, which include selling 25 million records and releasing two back-to-back top 10's on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart for her 1995 debut, "Miss Thang," and 1998's "The Boy Is Mine."

After thanking her three children, her family and the "record labels that have had a part in [her] career," Monica dedicated the award to her late uncle, who died this year.

"I want to say to every family that's suffering right now, I feel you because I accept this award and I dedicate it to my uncle," said Monica during her acceptance speech. "He's not here physically but he's here in spirit...Uncle Larry, I'm at the Soul Train."

Another highlight was Jazmine Sullivan's vocally challenging performance of her singles, "Lost One" and "Pick Up Your Feelings." Sullivan channeled 1960s Diana Ross, wearing a white dress, fluttering lashes and pink-nude lipstick.
