Ariana Grande accuses Grammys executive producer of misrepresenting her reasons for not performing
Ariana Grande has been silent regarding the rumors that she's not performing at the Grammys over disagreements with the show's producers ... until now.
The singer retweeted an Associated Press report in which Grammys executive producer Ken Ehrlich was quoted as saying that, after having "conversations over the past month or so," Ariana "felt it was too late for her to pull something together." Well, apparently, Ariana doesn't feel that that's what happened.
"Mhmmm here it is! -- 'too late for her to pull something together,'" Grande tweeted. "I’ve kept my mouth shut but now you’re lying about me."
"i can pull together a performance over night and you know that, Ken," she continued. "it was when my creativity & self expression was stifled by you, that i decided not to attend. i hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more."
"i offered 3 different songs. it’s about collaboration. it’s about feeling supported," she went on. "it’s about art and honesty. not politics. not doing favors or playing games. it’s just a game y’all.. and i’m sorry but that’s not what music is to me."
She concluded by writing, "Hope that helps everyone understand my decision. i am still grateful for the acknowledgement this year."
Earlier Thursday, Ehrlich told ABC Radio that the singer wouldn't be performing, but didn't say why. Ariana is up for two Grammys this year. Her new album, "Thank U, Next," comes out Friday.
