Football Star Latest Celebrity Caught on Tape
Sept. 1, 2010 — -- The NFL is investigating an apparent sex tape of New England Patriots rookie Brandon Spikes and a woman that has turned up on the web.
A spokesman confirmed to ESPN Tuesday that the matter was being "looked into" by the league.
The video shows a man who looks like Spikes engaged in a sexual act. Spikes' lawyer, Terry Watson, told ESPN the video's publication on the internet was an "embarrassing situation," and that the events depicted occurred prior to his NFL career. The NFL requires that players avoid conduct that hurts "public confidence" in the league.
Spikes, 22, is a linebacker who was selected in the second round by the Patriots. While playing for the University of Florida, he became infamous for a 2009 incident in which he seemed to attempt to gouge the eyes of a University of Georgia player.
Spikes becomes the latest celebrity embarrassed -- or enriched -- by the publication of private moments on the internet.

Kendra Wilkinson
These days, the star of the E! reality show "Kendra" is seen as the adoring wife of NFL star Hank Baskett and new mom to Hank Jr.
But in May Vivid Entertainment released a sex tape that she made with a former boyfriend. Wilkinson and her partner in the tape, ex-high school flame Justin Frye, reportedly shared profits from the tape, which she made when she was 18.
Soon after Wilkinson and Frye broke up, she began dating Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner and starred in the E! hit show, "The Girls Next Door."
According to documents obtained by Radar Online, Wilkinson tried to sell her old sex tapes in 2008, soon after becoming engaged to Baskett, but was unable to strike a deal.
