Cardi B says she was sexually assaulted on magazine photo shoot
Rap phenom Cardi B is opening up publicly for the first time about a sexual assault she says happened during a photoshoot while she was still an unknown in the rap game.
Speaking to radio icon Angie Martinez for her new show, "Untold Stories of Hip-Hop," Cardi said on Thursday's premiere that the man actually exposed himself during the shoot.
He also threatened that if she didn't play along, she would make it into the magazine, she said.
"The photographer, he was like trying to get close to me," she said, adding that then he exposed himself.
She said she decided to leave and not be a part of the shoot.
"I was so f------ mad," she continued. "I told the magazine owner and he just looked at me like, ‘So?'"
Cardi B did not name the photographer or the magazine.
When asked if she still experiences harassment like this now, she said, "Hell no, I'll put you on blast."
The reason she brought the incident up was that with movements like #MeToo, she wants to make sure "girls from the hood" get the same kind of support and publicity.
The Grammy-nominated artist is now part of rap royalty and has had an epic year.
She became the first solo woman to win best rap album at the 2019 Grammy Awards, is enjoying life with baby Kulture and started a fashion line earlier this year.
She also just starred in "Hustlers" opposite Jennifer Lopez.
"It is hard, you know?" Cardi B told "GMA" earlier this year of balancing work and motherhood. "It's like certain things I just miss.
"But it's like I just think to myself ... her future's going to be so secure," she said.
