Dolly Parton said she is focusing on her health and emotional well-being following the death of her husband, Carl Thomas Dean.

The 80-year-old singer spoke candidly during remarks at the opening day celebration of the 2026 season at her Tennessee theme park, Dollywood, on Friday. The park is entering its 41st season since opening in 1986.

During her keynote address, Parton acknowledged she has stepped back from touring while tending to some recent health concerns, ABC Knoxville affiliate WATE reported.

"I’ve had a few little health issues," Parton told the crowd, explaining that she and her team are working through them and that she has been taking time to recover.

Parton also spoke openly about the emotional toll of losing Dean, whom she was married to for nearly six decades before his death in March 2025 at age 82.

She said grief had left her feeling worn down and in need of time to regroup, noting that she has been rebuilding herself "spiritually, emotionally and physically" in recent months.

Despite the challenges, Parton reassured fans that she is doing well.

"All is good," she said, adding that the difficult period has not slowed her down.

Parton also reflected on her late husband with a touch of humor, joking that if she were to arrive at heaven’s gates with another man, Dean likely would not be pleased.

The singer married Dean in 1966, and the couple maintained one of the entertainment industry’s most private long-term relationships.

At one point during the event, Parton joked with the audience not to confuse Dollywood Company President Eugene Naughton for a new romantic partner, confirming she is not dating anyone since Dean’s death.

The appearance also marked a celebratory moment for Dollywood as the park kicks off its 41st season in the Smoky Mountains.

Ahead of the opening, Parton shared a throwback photo of herself at the park on Instagram, joking in the caption that she looks like the "girl next door... if you happen to live next door to an amusement park."
