Goldie Hawn, Sarah Paulson remember Diane Keaton with emotional tributes
Goldie Hawn and Sarah Paulson paid tribute to their friend, Diane Keaton, in a moving way.
Keaton, who died in October at 79, was remembered on Wednesday during The Hollywood Reporter's Annual Women in Entertainment Gala held at the Beverly Hills Hotel in California.
Hawn, who was Keaton's co-star in "The First Wives Club," and Paulson, who was Keaton's co-star in the 1999 movie "The Other Sister," each held back tears as they spoke about the late actress before a room full of fellow filmmakers, actors and more.
"She was always on my mind, she was so close to me," said Hawn, who recalled how Keaton's home was right below hers.
"Diane lived right below me," she went on. "We could talk to each other, we would laugh because we were so close. It was just the greatest thing knowing she was just below me. I would go to my flowers, my rose garden, and it was right on the edge there and I would wonder what in the world is she doing now?"
When Keaton passed, Hawn said she was in her backyard and looked down at her rose garden that overlooked Keaton's house.
"She just cannot be gone," Hawn said. "No one like that should ever die. She brought so much joy, so much life, so much exuberance. She was like lightning in a bottle. There wasn't anything she couldn't do, there wasn't any world that she couldn't live in, she was just an extraordinary human being."
Hawn also spoke about working with Keaton on "The First Wives Club" and called herself lucky.

In her tribute, Paulson remembered Keaton and said she was a dear friend to her for 25 years and "the great loves of my life."
Paulson also recalled acting alongside Keaton in "The Other Sister," saying that Keaton reassured her that "they were going to be friends" when Paulson said she burst into tears at the end of filming the movie.
"She taught me about being myself -- wow this is really hard -- not by explaining the virtues of it but by just being the personification of this notion," the "All's Fair" star added.
The Women in Entertainment Gala honored Gwyneth Paltrow with the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award and Jennifer Lopez with the Equity in Entertainment Award.
Robert Downey Jr. presented Paltrow with her award and Kerry Washington presented Lopez with hers.
Additionally, Dakota Johnson attended the event and took the stage with "One Battle After Another" stars Chase Infiniti and Regina Hall to present scholarships to students.
Rachel Sennott, Molly McNearney, Jimmy Kimmel, Olivia Munn and Bella Thorne were also among the attendees.
