— -- For more than a year, Kate Upton and Justin Verlander have been one of Hollywood's sweetest couples.

And, according to the Detroit Tigers pitcher, the reason their relationship works so well is because they're supportive of each other.

"Kate’s there a lot for me," he told Forbes. "And we’re just normal people. You know, normal relationship — believe it or not."

So, in a lot of ways, theirs is a normal romance. They enjoy date nights (steak dinners!), have each other's backs both personally and professionally, and generally, seem to have a good time with each other. (Have you seen the DubSmash videos they've done together? They're very cute!)

But, of course, the facts remain that Upton, 23, is one of the world's most sought-after supermodels, reportedly earning $7 million last year and Verlander, 32, is guaranteed at least $225.5 million through 2019, according to the magazine. "Normal" can be a relative term.

Here's what we mean.

Watch Justin Verlander Toss a Baseball to Girlfriend Kate Upton

1. They met through work: Or at least, it seems that way. In February, Verlander posted a photo to Instagram, recalling the day he met Upton. "#tbt the day I met the most amazing person ever!..... @davidprice14 haha jk @kateupton #getoutofmywayjay," he wrote. However, that's not to say they first said hello at the watercooler. It certainly seems that they met at a baseball event, as two other all-stars, David Price and Jay Bruce, are also in the photo, and all the ballplayers are in uniform.

2. They enjoy basketball: Verlander posted photos from the private jet that he took to a Cleveland Cavaliers game earlier this year, and then Upton shared a photo of herself, Verlander and CC Sabathia watching court-side.

3. They go home for the holidays: In a private jet, with their dogs. "With Harley headed back to VA for turkey day. My man Riley is waiting for us at the house. #bestfriends," Verlander wrote. (Verlander grew up in Virginia, while Upton is a Michigan native.) It seems Upton went with him, as she also posted a photo of their dogs during the holiday, captioning it, "Hope everyone is as relaxed as these 2 this year for thanksgiving! #happythanksgiving."

The rest of the holiday seemed to be pretty traditional, however, with Verlander sharing a photo of his cooked turkey and, shortly thereafter, a picture of his father who split his pants at dinner.

4. They go to football games: And also, the Super Bowl. Where they sat in a private suite.

5. They cook for each other: Verlander apparently tried to make his girlfriend pizza earlier this year, but failed miserably. However, he made up for it in a big way, whipping up a trio of delicacies. "Bon appetit @kateupton," he next to a photo of the food. "#rosemarychicken #tomatobasilshrimp #filetmediumrare #chefverlander" (There's a strong possibility he catered that in, right?)
