Jennifer Lawrence's family's camp damaged by a 'horrible' fire
A summer camp belonging to the family of Jennifer Lawrence was damaged in a "horrible" fire, according to a post on the camp's Facebook page.
According to the statement, a blaze broke out last Friday night at Camp Hi-Ho in Simpsonville, Kentucky, and while there were no injuries, a barn was destroyed.
A representative for Lawrence did not respond to a request for comment. Lawrence's brother, Blaine, is listed on the website as the director of the camp.
"We are deeply thankful that no people or animals were hurt, but we are still mourning the loss of years of hard work and memories that occurred in these walls. Words cannot describe the pain we are in, but we are so incredibly grateful for the Simpsonville Fire Department and all the other fire fighters who responded to our emergency. You are true heroes," the Facebook post read. "We are also so grateful for the countless members of our community who have reached out to support us during this time. Your love and kindness mean the world to us."
WLKY, the local CBS affiliate, reported at the time that it took some 30 firefighters more than an hour to extinguish the fire. The Simpsonville Fire and Rescue is working with the Kentucky State Fire Marshall to determine the cause of the inferno.
"One of the issues with a rural area is always water supply. Unfortunately in areas like this, without hydrants, we have to have all our water tankered in for suppression efforts," Simpsonville Assistant Fire Chief Bobby Cravens told WLKY.
The camp's statement concluded with a message of hope.
"We know Camp Hi-Ho is a special place to so many, and we plan to rebuild and repair so that we can move forward with a safe and joyful camp experience this summer," it read.
