Jessica Simpson is continuing to use music as an emotional outlet.

The singer and entrepreneur released a cover of rock band Nothing But Thieves' song "Particles" on Thursday, along with a music video of her singing the track the band released in 2017.

Introducing her cover of the song on her Instagram account, Simpson wrote, "The whole idea of music heals is an honest truth to me. This song saved a broken piece of me."

The music video, directed by Justin Coloma and produced by Carl Storm, features close-up shots of Simpson singing into a microphone in a candlelit room.

Simpson's last music release came in 2020, when she included six new songs in her "Open Book" audiobook. Before that, she hadn't released music since her 2010 album, "Happy Christmas."

This particular cover of "Particles" is personal for Simpson, as she revealed earlier this month that she is four years sober.

Some of the lyrics of the song include: "It's been like a year since I've been home / Flirting with an addiction I can't shake off / My mouth is dry, I self-medicate / This comedown won't cure itself."

In an Instagram post reflecting on her battle with sobriety, shared on Nov. 1, Simpson wrote: "There is so much stigma around the word alcoholism or the label of an alcoholic. The real work that needed to be done in my life was to actually accept failure, pain, brokenness, and self sabotage."
