— -- Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Emmy acceptance speech tonight for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series was bittersweet.

The "Veep" actress ended her speech by dedicating the award to her late father, Gerard Louis-Dreyfus, who she said died on Friday.

Gérard Louis-Dreyfus was a French-born billionaire businessman, according to Forbes. He was 84.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, 55, broke a record when she won the Emmy for her role as Selina Meyer, a fictional vice president who later becomes president in HBO's "Veep." She now has the most lead comedy actress trophies, passing Candice Bergen and Mary Tyler Moore.

Louis-Dreyfus beat out Laurie Metcalf ("Getting On"), Lily Tomlin ("Grace and Frankie"), Tracee Ellis Ross ("Black-ish"), Amy Schumer ("Inside Amy Schumer") and Ellie Kemper ("Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt") in the category.
