Julianne Hough Gushes About Being Engaged to Brooks Laich

— -- Julianne Hough can't stop staring at her engagement ring.

"I never thought I would be that girl to be like, 'Look [at my ring!]' but it is pretty awesome," she told E! News about her stunning diamond sparkler.

The "Dancing With the Stars" judge also confessed that she knew upon meeting her fiancé, hockey star Brooks Laich, in December 2013 that he was the guy she wanted to spend the rest of her life with.

"When I met him it was kind of like, 'Yeah, I knew' and I think he knew too. We kind of knew it was going to happen," she said.

Just like they took their time dating, Hough is in no rush to plan the wedding.

"We're just enjoying our engagement," the 27-year-old star shared. "I think right now we're just enjoying that part. We really enjoy our stages. I think we enjoyed the dating stage and being engaged, so I think we like to enjoy each stage."

The actress and dance pro announced the big news on Instagram last month.

"We are overwhelmed with joy and excitement to share with you our recent engagement! #fiancé #love," she wrote, next to a picture of her jumping into his arms.

Later, on her blog, Hough shared details of the proposal.

"We were at home, romantic and relaxed, which is perfectly very 'us,'" she wrote. "We stood on the deck, watching the sun set over the lake and listening to our favorite songs. Not even for a second did I expect that beautiful, serene scene was about to become one of the most meaningful moments of our lives. In fact, I was so taken aback when Brooks got down on one knee I completely blacked out!"

She added, "I didn’t have any words at first (me! no words!). All I could do was explode into his arms and experience pure joy from head to toe."
