Kate Beckinsale sparks concern with cryptic Instagram posts
Kate Beckinsale sparked concern among fans Sunday after sharing a series of cryptic messages on Instagram.
The actress shared a post on her Instagram grid that read, "bye," in white lettering against a black background. The post did not include a caption and comments were disabled.
Beckinsale also shared a photo of a rainbow on her Instagram stories with the message, "Congratulations you won. I give up."
Both posts were later deleted. It was not immediately clear what Beckinsale's messages were referring to.
Beckinsale also changed her Instagram bio to include a link to a BBC article about British TV presenter Caroline Flack, who died by suicide in 2020, according to Entertainment Weekly.
ABC News has reached out to Beckinsale's representative for comment.
The posts come weeks after Beckinsale spoke publicly about experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD.
In a since-deleted Instagram post earlier this month, Beckinsale described navigating PTSD as "actually like hell," according to People.
Beckinsale has also previously spoken publicly about grief and changes to her weight following the deaths of her mother, actress Judy Loe, and her stepfather, director Roy Battersby.
In August, Beckinsale wiped her Instagram account and shared screenshots of negative comments she had received about her appearance following her mother's death.
"You take a break from Instagram for several months following the death of your mother, delete all of your posts and explain in some considerable detail about what you may have lost weight including the fact that weight loss is one of the very first physical signs of bereavement … I think people might be broken," Beckinsale wrote in an Aug. 8 post, People reported.
In December 2025, Beckinsale spoke about how grief had affected her appetite following the deaths of Loe and Battersby, according to Entertainment Weekly.
"I think watching, especially alone, the people that you love the most dearly suffer and have horrific and sometimes violent, awful deaths really makes you not hungry, and people respond in different ways," Beckinsale said at the time. "If you google physical manifestations of grief, changes in appetite is probably the first one."
She continued, "I will say that because of my dad and my stepdad and my mom, I am so grateful that it wouldn't occur to me to see somebody transparently suffering and write something nasty about their appearance. It just wouldn't cross my mind. I am so grateful to have been brought up by people who raised me like that. And I really miss them."
