Kate Moss Weds Jamie Hince: From Heroin Chic to Blushing Bride

Supermodel Kate Moss is set to marry rocker Jamie Hince in the English village of Southrop today in what will be Britain's second big-ticket wedding of the year. Unlike the marriage of Prince William and Catherine Middleton, though, there'll be no live feed of Moss' nuptuials, no 24-hour news teams breathlessly chronicling the proceedings, no first kiss for the world to see.

Moss and Hince have taken pains to keep their plans private. Moss has refused to confirm the date or the venue of her wedding, but the security lockdown near her home in western England and the tents set up on the grounds of her estate gave away the pertinent details.

The couple has also reportedly enlisted security to keep out crashers of what's expected to be a celebrity-packed party. Invitees include Naomi Campbell, Anna Wintour, Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney and Jude Law.

A source close to Moss did reveal one crucial detail: According to Vogue UK, she'll wear a dress by John Galliano, the ex-Christian Dior designer who is currently on trial for allegedly hurling anti-Semitic and racist slurs to patrons at a Paris cafe. There are rumors that he'll also attend.

For Moss, her under-wraps wedding is a departure from her very public professional life. The 37-year-old model has been one of the fashion world's most prominent faces since strutting onto the scene in the 1990s, ushering in the "heroin chic" era of skinny, pale ingenues.

She's modeled for the greats: Calvin Klein, Chanel, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and more. Her face has graced countless magazine covers (British Vogue more than 30 times). Forbes estimates she made $13 million in the past year.

But Moss has weathered scandals with success. In 2005, a British tabloid ran photos of Moss that appeared to show her snorting seveal lines of white powder, presumably cocaine. H&M, Burberry and Chanel quickly announced they would not be renewing their contracts with Moss, and she soon issued an apology, though she stopped short of admitting she used drugs. British police filed charges against her but ultimately dropped them, citing lack of evidence.

In 2009, she was accused of advocating anorexia after revealing one of her mottos in an interview: "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels." (She added, "You try and remember, but it never works.")

Since settling down with Hince, the guitarist for the band The Kills, Moss appears to have mellowed. The two started dating in 2007 after being introduced by Moss' friend, Sadie Frost. She previously trashed hotel rooms with Johnny Depp and had a roller-coaster relationship with rocker Pete Doherty; with Hince, who's vegan, Moss' friends claim her worst vice is cigarettes.

Perhaps she'll kick that habit when she becomes a Mrs. She's already a mother of 9-year-old Lila Grace, whom she had with journalist Jefferson Hack.
