Katy Perry Hasn't Heard From Russell Brand Since He Texted Her About Their Divorce

— -- Russell Brand and Katy Perry split at the end of 2011 -- and she hasn't heard from him since.

"He hasn’t spoken to me since he texted me saying he was filing for divorce," she told the Daily Telegraph. "I don’t want to talk about him — my songs will say what I need to say."

Perry, 30, and Brand, 39, were married a little more than a year when he ended things. Their divorce was finalized in 2012, after which she began dating John Mayer, with whom she's been on and off ever since. However, she told the newspaper that she remains optimistic about love.

"I’m excited by whatever it brings. I’m excited by my own evolution," she said. "I don’t want to end up bittersweet. I have to evolve, I have to continue to push people’s perceptions of me. As an artist I like to do that, keep people on the edge of their seats."

She also hopes to have a family one day -- and when that happens, she wants to devote all her time and energy to raising kids. For now though, she's a mom to her pets, including a cat that she once called Rusty -- an mash-up of her ex's name and hers.

"I’ve changed her name to Monkey," she said.
