Why Miranda Lambert and Reba McEntire Are Wearing 'Girl Crush' Hats
— -- Country stars are standing behind one of their own and supporting band Little Big Town.
After new broke last week that LBT's song "Girl Crush" was getting criticized from local radio listeners because one of the lyrics spoke about two girl kissing each other, stars like Miranda Lambert and Reba McEntire took to social media to show their support.
"Tipping my hat to my friends @littlebigtown for their single #girlcrush!" McEntire wrote on Friday.
"I got a song crush! Love yall @littlebigtown #girlcrush #PlayGirlCrush @blakeshelton," Lambert and her husband Blake Shelton added.
In all the pics, the stars are wearing "Girl Crush" hats.
Kacey Musgraves got in on the action with a few friends.
"We Girl Crushin'.. @littlebigtown," she wrote.
Furthermore, Dierks Bentley spoke to the Huffington Post over the weekend, saying "When I heard that song, I never even thought about it being about a girl crush or a lesbian [romance]. And when I thought about it that way, I liked it even more," Bentley said.
"I have so much respect for Little Big Town and [producer] Jay Joyce ... to take chances like that and keep the genre going and moving, it requires bold artists," he added.
The song's co-writer Liz Rose also spoke to ABC News on Friday, saying that the one lyric doesn't mean the song is about two girls dating, but a girl is who is jealous of he ex-boyfriend's new woman.
"When we wrote it and it got played around town, the reaction was, 'Oh my God, this is our favorite song we've heard in a long time' and 'Thank you so much for writing such a great song,'" Rose told ABC News. "I think the negativity just came from a few places and that's what got out."
