Iskra Lawrence shared new details Thursday about the birth of her son.

In an Instagram post, Lawrence revealed that she and her partner, music producer Philip Payne, welcomed a "miracle" baby at home on April 16.

However, the delivery did not go exactly according to plan, she added.

"After 24 hours of unmedicated active labour and 2.5 hours of transition our midwife saved your life by resuscitation," she wrote. "I will be grateful every single day for you."

"In my 32 years on this earth I’ve never ever felt a feeling like the moment I heard your first cry. It truly is the most indescribable overwhelming feeling," Payne added in a post of his own. "I thought I knew vulnerability . . . naw this is true vulnerability. The second you were born you took my soul."

Lawrence, 29, revealed last November that she and Payne, whom she met at the 2018 Grammy Awards, were expecting their first child together. She announced on Sunday that the baby had been born, but explained that she didn't feel ready to share photos or divulge personal details just yet.

"Most of you have shown nothing but kindness but we also have received death threats and hate so I’m feeling super protective and never want my baby to feel like we over exposed them," she wrote at the time. "It’s new territory because I’m very open with you all about many aspects of my life and health etc. . . . so thank you again sending you all so so much love."

Editor's note: This story was updated to note that Lawrence and Payne welcomed a son. A previous version of this story stated that the couple welcomed a baby girl.
