Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter and his wife, Lauren Kitt, are expecting their third child.

"Sometimes life blesses you with little surprises," the 40-year-old boy band member shared on Instagram alongside an ultrasound video of their latest bundle of joy.

The couple opened up about their good news to People, revealing they didn't think they'd be able to have more kids due to Kitt's multiple pregnancy losses throughout the years.

"I was fully set on just having two children and I had prepared for that and made arrangements for that," Kitt said. "I didn't find out I was pregnant till I was about five-and-a-half months pregnant. I didn't have any symptoms, I didn't have anything indicating that I was pregnant."

Kitt said she felt "there was just no way that I could be pregnant, from just my medical history and the things that I did to ensure that I just had my two children." In fact, Carter even mentioned to her that they should get a surrogate to have a third baby just weeks before they learned of the pregnancy.

"With everything that 2020 has given to the entire world, I look at it as a blessing," Carter said of the impending arrival. "For us, it's all about just creating an environment for our children that is peaceful."

"I have always wanted to love somebody, someone unconditionally and give everything to those people, my wife, my kids, and be selfless," he added. "Now that I have it, yes, I am living my dream and I am very grateful for that and very blessed."

Carter and Kitt are already parents to two kids -- son Odin, 4, and daughter Saoirse, 1. Their third child is due in April.
