— -- More than two decades after the chase that had millions glued to their TV screens, FX recreated the O.J. Simpson white Ford Bronco chase with police for the series "American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson."

Oscar-winner Cuba Gooding Jr., 47, can be seen in the iconic white Bronco, the same type of vehicle that the football star was in on the freeway, while police trailed behind in 1994.

More than 90 million tuned in to watch this chase, where eventually O.J. got on the phone with police and gave his side of the story while Al Cowlings, Simpson’s friend, drove the car.

Gooding Jr. will play Simpson on the show, which focuses on the mid-1990's murder trial. Malcolm-Jamal Warner plays Cowlings.

Simpson, 67, was eventually arrested for the murder of ex-wife Nicole Brown, but acquitted months later in what was billed as the trial of the century.

Here's a look back at the original chase.

Motorists wave as police cars pursue the white Ford Bronco, center, driven by Al Cowlings, carrying fugitive murder suspect O.J. Simpson, June 17, 1994, on the 405 freeway in Los Angeles.

In the highly-anticipated series, former "Friends" star David Schwimmer will play Robert Kardashian, and John Travolta will play Robert Shapiro.

The miniseries, which is based on Jeffrey Toobin's best-selling book "The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson," will debut on FX in 2016.
