Oscar Isaac calls 'Moon Knight' a 'full-circle moment' in 'SNL' hosting debut

Oscar Isaac, star of Marvel's upcoming Disney+ series "Moon Knight," made his "Saturday Night Live" hosting debut over the weekend and used his opening monologue to joke about what he described as his "full-circle moment."

The "Dune" actor, who turns 43 this week, revealed that his film debut in "The Avenger" -- not to be confused with 2012's "The Avengers" -- was a home movie he "wrote, directed and starred in when I was 10 years old," and he brought clips from the film as proof.

Isaac recalled how "The Avenger" was "shot on location" in his friend's backyard in their hometown of Miami, Florida. As for the film's plot, he explained, "I play a ninja assassin training to fight his nemesis."

One clipped showed Isaac doing a stunt for which he "trained two months" to accomplish, another showed him "acting his heart out" while his friend's dad can be seen in the background cleaning the pool, and a third showed him playing dual roles and licking fake blood off a sword.

"Now you might be asking, 'Oscar, why are you using your monologue to show us these old home videos?' And the reason is, it’s important to encourage kids to be weirdos,” he said. “Because every once in a while, one of those weirdos grows up to host 'SNL.'"

Isaac also revealed that his full name is Óscar Isaac Hernández Estrada.

"I said to Hollywood, 'You can pick two of these names.' Guess what they went with? The white ones," he joked. "I'm half Guatemalan, half Cuban -- or, as casting directors call that, 'ethnically ambiguous.'"

Isaac continued, referencing his upcoming role in "Moon Knight" and his recent appearance in "Dune," "According to them, I can play anything from a pharaoh to Timothée Chalamet's daddy."

"Moon Knight" arrives March 30 on Disney+.
