Police Investigate Unexplained Death of Victoria Siegel, Daughter of 'Queen of Versailles' Stars
— -- Police are investigating the death of Victoria Siegel, the daughter of a billionaire couple featured in "Queen of Versailles," a 2012 documentary about their unfinished Orlando-area super-mansion.
Siegel, 18, was found unresponsive Saturday in the family’s home in Windermere, Florida. Sheriff’s deputies performed CPR, and she was rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, Orange County Sheriff’s Spokesman Jeff Williamson said.
The medical examiner was still determining the cause and manner of her death, Williamson said.
Victoria was one of David and Jackie Siegel’s eight children. Jackie Siegel, known as the “Queen of Versailles” from the documentary chronicling her still-unfinished quest to build the biggest house in America, confirmed her daughter’s death on Facebook.
“It is with great sadness that we ask you to respect our privacy during this tragic time and the loss of our beloved daughter, Victoria,” she wrote Sunday. “Thank you all for your prayers and for your support.”
David Siegel is the founder and CEO of Westgate Properties, the biggest time share company in the world.
The couple never hid their hands-off style of parenting, or their reliance on nannies. They employ a house staff of more than 30 people, not including the staff working on the 90,000-square-foot "Versailles," according to the Siegels.
Construction on the super-mansion began nine years ago, but progress slowed after the recession hit in 2008.
The couple, who appeared on last week’s episode of ABC’s “Wife Swap,” recently said the house was a few years away from completion.
