K-pop fans troll #WhiteLivesMatter hashtag with anti-racist posts
Fans of groups like BTS, MONSTA X and BLACKPINK have discovered a way to use their massive social media reach to drown out racist messages.
K-pop stans across the globe have taken over the hashtag #WhiteLivesMatter and have been flooding Twitter with anti-racist posts.
While some Twitter users initially thought fans were using the hashtag seriously, others quickly realized what was going on and began praising the K-pop fandom.
"K-Pop fans completely hijacking the #WhiteLivesMatter hashtag makes me so proud," one person tweeted.
"#WhiteLivesMatter LMAO I WAS READY TO INSULT THE S--- OUT OF EVERYONE," wrote another. "THEN I SAW THAT K-POP STANS ARE DESTROYING THE [hashtag], DAMN NEVER THOUGHT I'D BE THAT HAPPY SEEING K-POP FANCAM."
While another posted, "Imagine trying to trend #WhiteLivesMatter like a typical racist and Kpop fans said 'Not on my watch b----"
Most of the posts from K-pop fans include an anti-racist message along with a video of their favorite K-pop stars.
A similar hashtag, #WhiteOutWednesday, is also being completely taken over by K-pop fans.
"kpop stans ruining every white supremacist hashtag. i truly love to see it," tweeted one person.
"kpop stans unite to take out the trash," wrote another.
Others trolled the hashtag even further by literally posting photos of products like "White Out"-flavored Mountain Dew and Wite-Out Quick Dry Correction Fluid.
