— -- It's almost impossible to believe that country legend Reba McEntire is 60 years old.

The icon is still making amazing music -- she is set to release her latest album "Love Somebody" on April 14 -- and she's a new grandma to Kelly Clarkson's daughter River Rose.

McEntire sat down with ABC News for a worthy cause, Outnumber Hunger, through General Mills, Big Machine Label Group and Feeding America. The mission is simple: to fight hunger in local communities.

"There's 1 in 6 Americans that go hungry," she told ABC News. "We are the land of the plenty and I didn't understand why anyone in America could be hungry."

Through the initiative, when customers buy a General Mills product like the box of Cheerios with McEntire's face on it, a code on the back helps to donate five meals to a local food bank. There's also a national concert on April 17 to air on local affiliates.

Along with helping out for such an important issue, McEntire is still working after more than four decades in the business.

"The songs are different because what I basically do on every album is try to find the best 10, 12 songs I can find," she said about her April release. "It's a song that touches my heart ... it's got to resonate with me, with an emotion."

At 60, McEntire has simple tips to stay and look young. She recently celebrated the milestone in Arizona with family including Clarkson and her husband Brandon Blackstock while attending Muhammad Ali's Celebrity Fight Night last week. She said it was "a perfect way to celebrate my birthday."

"Big 6-0," she said. "Staying happy does help [keep me young]. I think it's very important to be of good mental attitude. Then I work out the best I can, as consistently as I can. I eat right, but I do jump off the wagon every now and then and have a good old cheeseburger."
