— -- Sofia Vergara said the “Modern Family” cast had “a lot of fun” filming in Lake Tahoe for the highly-anticipated new season that premieres tonight.

For one scene in particular that was shot on a boat, Vergara said it “was so hard to keep a straight face” because of the outlandish way her co-star, Eric Stonestreet, was dressed trying to shield himself from the sun.

“It’s like, ‘You look like a geisha with a nun,'” Vergara said on “Good Morning America” of Stonestreet’s outfit for the show. “It’s confusing. It was really crazy and Ed [O’Neill] couldn’t stop laughing.”

The actress said the cast always tries to have fun when they’re traveling together for the show.

“The weekend we were there, there was a big fight in Vegas and we were all watching it,” Vergara recalled of their time in what she called “amazing” Lake Tahoe. “Then Julie loves bicycling and hiking. She always has time for that. I do some shopping. We like hiking together. We don’t get to do that when we’re in L.A. We’re all working and go home. But when we’re trapped in a hotel in a city, it makes us all be together and it’s a lot of fun.”

Vergara is also keeping busy with the launch of a new underwear line, EBY, which she said she is passionate about because of the brand’s partnership with the Seven Bar Foundation. A portion of the sales from the underwear company will go to the foundation for helping empower women to start their own businesses.

“Every sale we make, 10 percent is going to go to a woman that is going to be able to open her own business,” she said of the subscription underwear line. “We’re going to microfinance businesses all over the world, so that women can have their own thing, their own money. That was super-important for me when I was young as a single mom. I wanted to have my money and my own independence, and we want to give them that.”

The new season of “Modern Family” premieres tonight at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
