"We're going into the outside world. We're gonna see how people who didn't have resources and planning dealt with the catastrophe that hit the globe," Brown, who plays fictional Secret Service agent Xavier Collins, told Stephanopoulos. "It sort of brings out the best of humanity, and it brings out the worst of humanity."

Brown said in the second season, his character attempts to find his wife Teri, played by actress Enuka Okuma.

What is 'Paradise' about?

"Paradise," starring Brown, Marsden, Sarah Shahi, and Julianne Nicholson, is a science fiction thriller that follows Secret Service agent Xavier Collins (Brown), who seeks to understand who killed the fictional president of the United States in the wake of a doomsday event.

The synopsis for season 2 reads, "Xavier searches for Teri out in the world and learns how people survived the three years since The Day. Back in Paradise, the social fabric frays as the bunker deals with the aftermath of Season 1, and new secrets are uncovered about the city's origins."

Nicholson stars in the series as businesswoman Samantha "Sinatra" Redmond, while Shahi plays psychotherapist and grief specialist Gabriela Torabi and Marsden plays U.S. President Cal Bradford.
