Stevie Nicks and Janet Jackson head to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Two of the most beloved and successful recording artists of all time are being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Friday night: Stevie Nicks and Janet Jackson.
One is making history with her induction, while the other is joining her siblings in the prestigious institution.
Thirteen years after she first became eligible as a solo artist, Nicks will become the first woman ever inducted into the Hall of Fame twice -- she was inducted in 1998 as part of Fleetwood Mac. While Nicks' work with Fleetwood Mac is legendary, her poetic, deeply personal solo work has been just as impactful for fans.
"The thing they say [to me] is, 'You have no idea what your music has meant to me,'" the singer told ABC News a few years back. "And I get from that statement that something horrifically wonderful, or horrifically bad, happened and something that I wrote was there for them at that point. So that, I love, and that matters to me."
As for Jackson, she's been eligible for induction since 2007 and had been nominated twice before.
On Friday night, she'll finally join her brothers Michael, Jermaine, Jackie, Tito and Marlon in the Rock Hall of Fame. They're already in as The Jackson 5, while Michael has been inducted as a solo artist as well.
Jackson will be inducted by Janelle Monae, while Nicks will be ushered in by One Direction's Harry Styles.
The 2019 Rock Hall Induction Ceremony will take place at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The red carpet arrivals will stream at RockHall.com, as well on the Hall's YouTube channel and Facebook page.
HBO will air a special featuring highlights from the ceremony Saturday, April 27, at 8 p.m. ET.
