Tia Mowry shares time she and her twin Tamera were snubbed for being Black
Tia Mowry got emotional in a new video when she recalled an upsetting memory from her childhood.
The actress, who starred in the '90s sitcom "Sister/Sister" alongside her twin, Tamera Mowry-Housley, explained in a new interview that at the height of the show's popularity, she and Mowry-Housley were denied a magazine cover because of their race.
In an interview for "Entertainment Tonight"'s "Unfiltered" series, Mowry said that the pain of that moment still feels fresh.
"We were told that we couldn't be on the cover of the magazine because we were Black and we would not sell," she said. "It still affects me how someone could demean your value because of the color of your skin, and I will never forget that."

Mowry, 42, said that because of that experience, she makes sure to always assure her children, Cree, 9, and Cairo, 1, of their worth. The idea that they would ever feel devalued is too painful a thought for her to bear. She also wishes she'd handled her situation differently.
"I wish I would've said something then," she said. "I wish I would've had the courage to speak out and say that that wasn't right."
