Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell receive Walk of Fame stars in double ceremony
— -- Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell received their stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in a special double ceremony on Thursday.
On hand to make speeches honoring the Hollywood couple were Hawn's daughter, actress Kate Hudson, as well as actress Reese Witherspoon and director Quentin Tarantino.
The couple's stars are near one another — an effort Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce tries to make for actors who work together or are romantically involved.
"I always thought I'd be talking about them at a wedding or something but since a wedding doesn't seem to be in our near future -- ever -- this may be my only opportunity!" Hudson said to laughter. "Their real legacy is what they have instilled in us kids -— our tribe -— that they created that they so vehemently protect and defend, the relationship they fiercely refuse to lose sight of together, and the deep feeling of love and nurturing they reserve for the most important thing we have in this life: family. So that's what these stars represent to me."
Hawn and Russell, who co-starred together in the film "Overboard," have been together since 1983.
Hawn, 71, rose to fame as part of the cast of the TV show "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In," and won an Academy Award for her role in 1969's "Cactus Flower." She went on to appear in films like "Sugarland Express," "Death Becomes Her" and "Private Benjamin." She stars alongside Amy Schumer in the upcoming film "Snatched," opening nationwide May 12.
Russell, 66, started acting as a child and has appeared in numerous TV shows, such as "Gilligan's Island," "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.," "The Virginian" and "Gunsmoke." His film credits include, "Silkwood," "Escape from New York" and "Swing Shift." He stars in the upcoming film, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," opening nationwide on Friday.
