Dad runs 4-minute, 17-second mile while pushing daughter in stroller
A baby in Cleveland, Ohio, passed a major milestone at a record pace over the weekend -- largely thanks to her dad.
Stephen Biebelhausen, an emergency room doctor, and his daughter Blake participated in the city's annual Guardian Mile "Stroller Mile" on Saturday, ultimately completing the race with a time of 4 minutes and 17 seconds, potentially becoming the new world record holder for the feat.
According to Guinness World Records, the current record-holder for the fastest stroller mile is Silas Frantz, who earned the title at Arroyo Grande High School in California on June 24, 2025, with a time of 4 minutes and 26.29 seconds.
If Biebelhausen's time is verified, he would become the new world record-holder.
ABC News has reached out to Guinness World Records to determine whether or not Biebelhausen's race time has been verified.
"I thought it would be fun to just pop her in there. I looked up the course record. I was like, 'I could probably do that. You know, 4:44," Biebelhausen told ABC Cleveland affiliate WEWS-TV on Tuesday.
In a jaw-dropping sprint, Biebelhausen ran the first half-mile in 2 minutes and 12 seconds, speeding up his pace to finish the second half in 2 minutes and 5 seconds.
According to the Guardian Mile's Stroller Mile map, the race cuts through Cleveland, starting near Market Square Park, crossing over the Cuyahoga River, and finishing on the other side of the river near the Western Reserve Fire Museum and Progressive Field, home of the Cleveland Guardians.
Biebelhausen said his daughter was in high spirits for the race.
"She talked. She loved the crowd cheering," he recalled. "It was very surprising. It was also probably equally as surprising that it was, like, 45 minutes past her bedtime, and she was still in a good mood."
Above all else, Biebelhausen told the outlet, the race provided a space for him to share memorable quality time with his daughter.
"That's the best," he said. "I mean, I love taking her for runs for that exact reason ... she gets all happy to come out and enjoy nature."
