Monopoly will return to restaurants nationwide beginning Oct. 6 for a limited time, according to an official press release from McDonald’s USA issued Tuesday.

The latest edition is bringing back one of the most recognizable parts of the original game: physical peel-off pieces attached to select food and drink packaging.

"MONOPOLY at McDonald's is more than just a game. It's about childhood memories, family moments and surprises that make our day," said Alyssa Buetikofer, Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer of McDonald's USA in the official press release. "This year, we're giving fans even more reasons to play with bigger prizes, more rewards, and a simpler digital game experience that includes the classic peel."

But while the peeling may feel familiar, the way customers play has gotten a digital update.

According to the company, players will peel a game piece and then scan it using the McDonald’s app, where they can redeem instant food prizes and rewards points, collect Monopoly properties or play a digital Chance Card game.

Eligible menu items will include the Quarter Pounder with Cheese, Egg McMuffin, large fries and select large hot and cold drinks, the company said.

For the 2026 version, McDonald’s said the game will include prizes ranging from free menu items to vacations, vehicles and cash. The largest advertised cash prize is $1 million, which the company said would be paid as $50,000 annually over 20 years.

The promotion is scheduled to run through Nov. 1, with additional time allowed for certain digital gameplay and prize claims. McDonald’s said a no-purchase-necessary option will also be available by mail.
