Police officers responded to a traffic hazard that looked more like a practical joke when they arrived to find dozens of doughnuts scattered onto the street.

Two officers from the Wheaton Police Department responded to Naperville Road in Illinois where as many as 60 doughnuts were left in the intersection, ABC Chicago station WLS reported.

A Chicago-based lawyer snapped a video of the cop cleanup and shared it on Twitter with the caption, "A thing I saw yesterday in Wheaton."

With shovels and some silver pails, the cops appeared to make quick work of the pastry problem, scooping them up and stuffing and stomping the day-old doughnuts into buckets.

It was not immediately clear how the doughnuts ended up there and Wheaton Police did not release any further information on the road hazard.

Wheaton Police did not immediate respond to ABC News' request for comment.
