Julianne Hough discusses creating an 'intimate erotic blueprint' with husband Brooks Laich
As "America's Got Talent" judge Julianne Hough and her husband, professional hockey player Brooks Laich celebrate their second wedding anniversary, they're opening up to fans about how they keep their relationship strong.
In a frank discussion for Laich's podcast, "How Men Think," the two explained that they took a test online -- developed by a sex educator, Jaiya -- that helps people discover their "intimate erotic blueprints."
Hough said that the results taught her that "there were certain things that gave me connection and intimacy that were different than what gave Brooks connection and intimacy."
"My curiosity has saved my life and honestly saved our relationship many times because we've been curious about like, 'Hey, something doesn't feel right. Instead of just accepting it for how it is, let's look into something,'" she said. "By almost learning each other's language, sort of like love languages... it was almost like a menu of how we could please each other sexually, but also intimately."
Hough, 30, and Laich, 36, married in 2017 after several years of dating. Although theirs is a close bond, they're still working every day to better understand what the other needs -- even if it doesn't always line up with what they want.
"[Our blueprint] allows me to understand my wife more and what's important to her, otherwise I'm going to try and keep giving the way I think that I'm supposed to," Laich explained.
"We go to dinner a lot of the time and dinner for Brooks is great because he's getting fed, he's got me there, whatever it might be. But... dinner to me means I want eye contact and I would really appreciate you maybe touching my hand at some point," Hough added. "When you have a partner who is willing to learn what is best for you, and your needs, I think that's when intimacy comes in."
