Drawing Conclusions: Week 9's playoff impact

ByCHRIS MORRIS
November 01, 2015, 3:29 PM

— -- Welcome back to our weekly illustrated guide during the college football season to four games that had an impact on the playoff race.

Previous weeks: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8

No. 9 Notre Dame 24, No. 21 Temple 20

After being on the verge of bagging the sweetest win in Temple history, the Owls went home empty-handed. Notre Dame rallied to throw a touchdown with 2:09 left in the game, then intercepted a pass on Temple's final drive.

No. 11 Florida 27, Georgia 3

The Gators' dominant defense held the Bulldogs to 223 total yards, and Kelvin Taylor ran for 121 yards and two touchdowns as Florida moved one conference victory from clinching the SEC East title.

No. 8 Stanford 30, Washington State 28

The Cardinal escaped with a win over the Cougars, as Washington State kicker Erik Powell missed only one of his six attempts -- a 43-yard field goal that went wide right as time expired.

No. 5 TCU 40, West Virginia 10

TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin had 472 total yards and four touchdowns on Thursday night as he bewildered the West Virginia defense and earned the respect of Mountaineers coach Dana Holgorsen. After one particularly impressive scramble, the Heisman candidate found himself face to face with Holgorsen, who gave the QB a high-five. "I can't get No. 2 out of my mind, making everybody on the field miss," Holgorsen said postgame.
