Emily Ratajkowski shares the worst advice she never took
Emily Ratajkowski doesn't tune out advice, but she won't necessarily take it.
"I definitely listen to people because I think you can learn something about the world even if it's bad advice," supermodel, actress, and entrepreneur Emily Ratajkowski told ABC News' Rebecca Jarvis.
The 28-year-old multi-hyphenate, who first caught public attention in 2013 after appearing in Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" music video, has a reputation for being outspoken about her beliefs. She recently endorsed Bernie Sanders for president, previously protested the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court (and was arrested alongside comedian Amy Schumer) and publicly defended first lady Melania Trump against a New York Times journalist for what she called "slut-shaming."
She also came to Kim Kardashian's defense when British journalist and TV personality Piers Morgan made derogatory comments about Kardashian for a nude selfie. Ratajkowski said she chooses to take a stance on certain things because she knows what she believes in.
"When you really know what you believe in, you can feel yourself getting angry about something, and that's when you need to say something... It's about calling out moments where there are inequality and unfairness."
Ratajkowski said the worst advice she's ever received has been not to trust herself, and while she is open to hearing other opinions, she stays grounded in her beliefs.
"I think that being smart is only about being curious and listening to people, so I never like to say, 'I know it all' because I don't feel that way," she explained. "But there is a really important distinction between that and being protective of valuing yourself and what you do know, and that has been the journey for me in my 20's."
