New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs superfans speak out ahead of NBA Finals Game 2
The New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs have fans of all ages rooting for them ahead of Game 2 of the 2026 NBA Finals Friday.
Among the Knicks' camp is Lavert Henderson-Hobbs, who told ABC News' Danny New she has been a superfan since 1970.
"I was there in 1999," Henderson-Hobbs said, referring to the last time the Knicks reached the NBA Finals. "We didn't win [then], but this year, I'ma be there in 2026, and we will win!"
The 78-year-old said she has been to more than 2,000 Knicks games over the years and also has a photo with former Knicks player turned TV analyst Walt "Clyde" Frazier.
"I plan to continue as long as my poor little legs will allow me to go," she added.
In Manhattan, 87-year-old Knicks superfan Frances Bernstein made sure her assisted living center hosted a watch party for Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday.
"I organized this whole thing. They didn't want to do anything. I said, 'What do you mean?'" Bernstein said.
"Can you imagine if New York won? Oh my god, I think, with my walker, I would go parading," she added.
On the Spurs front, the "Spurs nuns," or the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco, have gone viral cheering on their hometown team courtside while sporting Spurs jerseys over their habits.
"It's nice to know that we can pray for them, and they can appreciate us ... that in itself is a blessing to us," Sister Celine Lomeli told ABC News previously about rooting for the Spurs.
"I wouldn't say we're a lucky charm, but we were happy to bring a lot of joy and faith to the game that night," Sister Bernadette Mota added, following Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals between the Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder, a game the sisters attended.
Sydney Isenberg, another Spurs fan, said she loves the nuns and feels like San Antonio natives should always cheer for their team, the only professional sports team in the South Central Texas city.
"Being from San Antonio, you can't not be a Spurs fan. I think it's illegal," she joked, adding, "I need them to win for San Antonio."
All NBA Final games will air live on ABC and will be available to stream on the ESPN App.
Game 2 between the Knicks and Spurs tips off at 8:30 p.m. ET Friday night.
