The ceasefire is broadly holding in Gaza, with Israeli forces inside the strip having pulled back to the so-called "yellow line." Still, renewed Israeli strikes killed dozens of Palestinians last week in response to what Israel alleged was a ceasefire violation by a Hamas gunman.

The bodies of two deceased hostages are still thought to be in Gaza. Israeli authorities have been releasing Palestinian prisoners and the bodies of deceased Palestinians detainees in exchange for the return of hostage remains.

Netanyahu alleges new ceasefire violation over hostage remains

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday accused Palestinian Islamic Jihad -- one of the main Palestinian armed factions operating in Gaza -- of violating the ceasefire by delaying the return of a deceased hostage's body.

"Israel views with utmost seriousness the delay in their immediate transfer to its hands," Netanyahu said of the remains reportedly discovered in Gaza on Monday.

"Israel demands the immediate return of the three deceased hostages still held in the Gaza Strip," the prime minister said in a statement published to social media by his office.

5 people targeted by Israeli troops in Gaza, IDF says

The Israel Defense Forces said “several terrorists” crossed the yellow line that separates the part of Gaza controlled by Israeli troops from the part of Gaza where Israeli troops withdrew from during the ceasefire agreement.

People were identified crossing the yellow line in Khan Younis and in northern Gaza, the IDF said in separate statements. Five people were targeted by Israeli troops in these incidents and at least two people were killed, the IDF said.

Israeli strike in Lebanon that killed Hezbollah chief of staff was 'contained' strike, Israeli military official says

Israeli forces chose to carry out the strike in Lebanon that killed Hezbollah chief of staff Haitham Ali Tabataba'I on Sunday as a “contained, opportunity-based elimination,” an Israeli military official said Monday.

Israel “chose to carry out the strike now after identifying a clear window of opportunity to target a key terrorist in the organization,” the official said. “There is no intention to escalate. This is a contained, opportunity-based elimination.”

Israeli forces have been striking targets in southern Lebanon they say are associated with Hezbollah in October and November since the Israel-Hamas ceasefre went into effect. This is the first time Israel has struck Beirut, Lebanon’s capital, since June.

UN 'appalled' by killings of 2 Palestinians during ongoing Israeli operations

After two Palestinians were killed in the West Bank during an ongoing Israel Defense Forces operation in the West Bank on Thursday, the United Nations said it is "appalled" by the "brazen killing by Israeli border police."

"Impunity for Israel security forces' unlawful use of force, and ever-growing Israeli settler violence, must end. UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk urges independent, prompt and effective investigations into the killings of Palestinians, and that those responsible for violations be held fully to account," a spokesperson for the U.N. high commissioner for human rights said in a statement.

Mahmoud Qasim Abdallah, 26, and Youssef Ali Youssef Essa'sa, 37, were shot by Israeli forces in Jenin, the Palestinian General Authority for Civil Affairs said. Israeli forces shot at two suspects during an ongoing operation in Jenin, the IDF said in a statement on Thursday.

The IDF and the Israeli police said in a statement the two people targeted were "wanted individuals affiliated with a terror network."

The ongoing Israeli operation in the West Bank has continued to intensify in recent days. Israeli forces conducted airstrikes as a part of the operation on Wednesday, and Israeli air forces were again used on Thursday to "provide aerial assistance to the soldiers on the ground," the IDF said in a separate statement about the ongoing operation.
