Limp Bizkit's 'Anger Management' Resumes
November 28 -- The stuttering progress of the Limp Bizkit-led "Anger Management" tour will resume tonight in Texas, after singer Fred Durst's throat problems caused the cancellation of a fifth gig on Sunday night in San Diego.
"I can hear the music warming up in [the] dome," said Kevin Duvall, event director at San Antonio's Alamodome, today. "My walls are shaking. We are good to go."
The band has left pockets of alternately satisfied and outraged fans across the country since Durst was first diagnosed with acute laryngeal edema, or swollen vocal chords, after an Oct. 23 show in Worcester, Mass. The band canceled its concert the following day in Albany, N.Y. Although Limp Bizkit has not yet missed two consecutive shows, it has since axed appearances on Nov. 3 in Indianapolis; Nov. 15 in Vancouver, British Columbia; and Nov. 19 and 26 in San Diego.
The tour's teaching fans in these cities more about managing their anger than they'd anticipated.
"I'm pretty pissed off about [the cancellation]," says Karen Milton, a fan from Vancouver. "I've been waiting three years to see Limp Bizkit and was so stoked. If Fred Durst was so sick … why didn't they know before the day of the show? At least that way I wouldn't have been all ready to go and then hear on the radio that it was cancelled."
The message board on Limp Bizkit's Web site (www.limpbizkit.com) is filled with angry fans attacking Durst for canceling and even angrier fans defending him. The most frequently expressed sentiment is hope that the rock outfit will reschedule — though the band's label, Interscope Records, did not answer inquiries about replacement performances.
The Anger Management tour has featured a variety of rap and rock acts backing Limp Bizkit. Eminem, Papa Roach, and Xzibit took part in the first half of the tour, and DMX and Godsmack will tag along until the final show, Dec. 17 in Jacksonville, Fla.
