2 adults, 9-year-old who went missing after tubing on Muskegon River found safe
Three people who went missing after they were believed to have been tubing on the Muskegon River in Michigan have been found "alive and safe," authorities said Friday.
Jazman Hock and Sarah Vida, both 28, and 9-year-old Kayden Kovalcik had been missing since Tuesday, according to Michigan State Police.
They were located Friday afternoon by a Michigan State Police K-9 team and Michigan Department of Natural Resources conservation officers, approximately three-quarters of a mile northeast of the Mill Iron Road Boat Launch, police said.
"This is the outcome everyone involved had hoped for," Michigan State Police said in a statement.
The investigation began after the father of one of the missing women found her vehicle at the Maple Island Boat Launch with a broken window, according to state police.
Family members have not been able to contact any of the missing individuals, who have been missing for over 24 hours, Michigan State Police said late Wednesday.
They were believed to have been using orange and pink tubes when they went missing on Tuesday, according to police.
Multiple agencies were involved in the search effort.
"We are incredibly grateful for the tireless efforts of the many law enforcement agencies, fire departments, emergency responders, search and rescue teams, and volunteers who dedicated countless hours to this search," Michigan State Police said.
No additional information will be released at this time "out of respect for the privacy of those involved," police said.
