At least three people were killed and eight others were injured in a shooting late Monday in Fort Worth, Texas, police said.

The Fort Worth Police Department said officers responded to reports of a shooting on Horne Street. Upon arrival, the officers found "multiple" gunshot victims in a parking lot, according to police.

Police have identified a total of 11 victims -- 10 adults and one child. The wounded remain hospitalized in unknown conditions, police said.

Police sources confirmed to ABC News that the deadly shooting occurred in Fort Worth's Como neighborhood after an annual July 4 event called ComoFest.

The neighborhood is home to a small, predominantly Black community plagued by a high level of crime, with several rival gangs in the area, according to officials.

"This incident was a result of a fight between two rival groups," according to law enforcement officials.

Law enforcement sources told ABC News the incident began as an argument and escalated quickly. They also said several of the victims were not cooperating with authorities.

Around the same time in Fort Worth, a separate shooting occurred as the result of a fight between rival groups. This shooting was not connected to any holiday-related event, police said.

Neither incident appears terror-related, police said.

An investigation into the Comofest shooting is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact the Fort Worth Police Department's Homicide Unit at 817-392-4330, or the Tarrant County Crime Stoppers at 817-469-8477.
