May 5, 2014— -- Amazon and Twitter unveiled a partnership today that could bring the future of online shopping to your social media feed -- if you don't mind letting the world see what you're buying.

Starting today, users can link their Twitter and Amazon accounts and can automatically add items to their cart by responding to a tweet with an Amazon product link and the hashtag #AmazonCart.

What's in your Amazon cart will be visible to to the twitterverse if your account is public.

How does it work?

You link your Twitter and Amazon accounts -- then, for example, order a necklace listed as a Mother's Day gift idea on Amazon.

Next, you reply to the tweet with the hashtag #AmazonCart.

Seconds later, you receive a reply from Amazon that the necklace had been added to your shopping cart.

Thankfully for impulse buyers, the service doesn't let users purchase with one click. When you're ready to check out, users will have to go to the Amazon website to complete the transaction.
