— -- Three bystanders helped rescue an elderly woman after she drove into a pond in Massachusetts on Friday afternoon, police said.

The 68-year-old woman drove her Ford Edge into Spy Pond in Arlington around 1:02 p.m. as she attempted to back into a parking spot and drove over a curb, according to the Arlington Police Department.

The ordeal was caught on cellphone video, which shows the dark-colored SUV sinking slowly as it drifts further toward the middle of the pond. A good Samaritan is then seen swimming toward the car and opening the door to the back seat shortly before the car dives front first into the water.

Seconds later, the car is completely submerged, a large quantity of the woman's belongings bubble up to the surface of the pond, and two more rescuers are seen in the water.

The woman was cold when she was pulled from the water, but she was otherwise conscious, alert and unhurt, police said. The Cambridge Fire Department is assisting police with the removal of the car from the pond.
