— -- A pooch named Konjo has crushed the Guinness World Record for the fastest 5 meters ran on front paws by a dog, surpassing her predecessor Jiff the Pomeranian by an impressive 5.37 seconds.

"Konjo has claimed the title with a time of 2.39 sec, smashing Jiff's record of 7.76 sec," Guinness confirmed. "The attempt took place at Tustin Sports Park, Tustin, California, USA on 22 December 2014."

Owner Julia Pasternack told Guinness she was confident about her pup's ability when she entered a claim for Konjo's attempt at the record.

"My dog, Konjo, will break the recently added record of fastest dog on two paws," Pasternack wrote to the organization. "Baby Konjo, as she is so lovingly called, is a very special 2 lb [pound] Papillon/Chihuahua mix who walks on her front paws on a daily basis at a speed that already does surpass the existing title holder."

Pasternack added that Konjo first started running on her front paws, naturally, when she was a puppy.

Konjo's record surpassed Jiff the Pomeranian dog.

"My theory as to why she started doing this is that her center of mass resides primarily in the front, allowing her better balance," she said. "Her smaller stature probably makes her more agile."

Jiff the Pomeranian was the very first dog to hold the record in August 2014, until Guinness' announcement of Konjo's achievement on Thursday.
