— -- Amid public grief and pain over the recent back-to-back killings of black men by police, the black community is coming together on social media using the hashtag #CarefreeBlackKids2K16, which is celebrating the community's existence, resilience and youth.

The hashtag, created by writer and podcaster Heben Nigatu, started trending on Twitter on Thursday, according to social media platform's "Moments" page.

"With the hashtag, people are sharing photos and videos of black children displaying their humor, intelligence and overall greatness in spite of existing in turbulent times," Twitter Moments wrote in a description of the hashtag. It added in a tweet, "If you need a reason to smile today...#CarefreeBlackKids2K16 will give you plenty."
