See Creative Way Canadian Man Escaped His Snow-Covered Home
— -- When the MacLeod family woke up in their New Brunswick, Canada, home on Tuesday morning, they were greeted by the sight of snow surrounding their home.
“I was getting up to see if we had work and if school was open,” Tracey MacLeod told ABC News. "I looked outside and we couldn’t get out of our doors.”
MacLeod says by the time she made it downstairs, her husband, Daniel, had already come up with a creative way to overcome the pile of snow barricaded against the doorway.
“As soon as we got up he went down and got chairs,” she said. “When I got downstairs he was standing on the chairs already.”
MacLeod pulled out her cell phone to record it all while Daniel stood on one chair, with one chair behind him and a collection of towels below to catch the snow should his exit not go as planned.
In a video MacLeod posted to Facebook, Daniel can be seen weighing his options for about 15 seconds before finally just grasping the two sides of the open doorway and propelling himself through the small gap between the snow and the door frame.
MacLeod somersaulted right over the snow bank and into the snow, leaving nary a drop of snow in their house.
“It was just an instinct,” MacLeod said of her husband’s move. “He did it like it was just a standard thing.”
MacLeod says she and her family got a good laugh out of the escape, with their daughter and their dogs giving it a try after Daniel’s successful attempt.
After the fun, the family got down to business, digging themselves out of the snow.
“We got up around 7 a.m. and by the time we were able to say that we were able to get out of the driveway and the house it was probably close to lunchtime,” MacLeod said.
