— -- One Utah family has brought the "Elf on the Shelf" doll to life, with the help of their adorable baby boy.

Blogger Alan Lawrence has been dressing up his 4-month-old son Rockwell as the "Elf on the Shelf" doll, and taking photos of him in mischievous situations all month long as part of a photo series for his website, That Dad Blog.

The blogger and father of six told ABC News that he came up with the idea of an "Elf on the Shelf" photo project after a friend noted that Rockwell looked like an elf.

"I looked around on the Web and was surprised no one had ever done it before," Lawrence said.

Lawrence set up hysterical settings to photograph Rockwell in as the "Elf on the Shelf," such as the baby drinking syrup straight from the bottle, and covering the tree with toilet paper.

The mischievous situations are offset by Rockwell's adorable reactions.

"The funniest part is watching Rockwell react to the situations we place him in for the photos," Lawrence said. "He has the funniest expressions or reactions that always end up helping me tell the narrative to the photo."

Lawrence revealed that he will be publishing new photos of Rockwell as "Elf on the Shelf" every day until Christmas. However, people who wish to see more photos of baby Rockwell and his siblings after the holidays need not worry. Lawrence has no plans to stop using his children in photo projects anytime soon.

"Having kids keeps me young and allows me the opportunity to still act like a kid sometimes," Lawrence said. "I imagine as my kids get older they may not want to participate as much but I'm going to enjoy it while it last."
