For D-Day, Obama Posts Video of Wounded Warrior Who Inspires Him Most

— -- Seven years ago on the anniversary of D-Day, President Obama met Army Ranger Cory Remsburg while visiting Omaha Beach. Just eight months later, on his tenth deployment, Remsburg was nearly killed by a massive roadside bomb in Afghanistan.

He sustained devastating injuries, including brain damage, that took away both his abilities to talk and walk. He has been through multiple surgeries and years of rehabilitation. The president has monitored Remsburg’s recovery, occasionally visiting him at the hospital and at his home.

On May 9, the president's office said Remsberg walked unassisted for the first time since surviving the bomb blast -- into the Oval Office for a visit. The moment is highlighted in a video posted to the president's official Facebook page, in honor of D-Day.

In the post, Obama reveals nobody has inspired him more than Remsburg, writing, “He never quits. He never gives up. And he's always pushing the limits, reminding us of our solemn obligation to all our veterans and wounded warriors who've risked their lives for us all.”

Obama noted, “He was determined to walk into the Oval Office on his own."
