— -- Smoke filled the cabin of a Delta Air Lines that had departed from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, today, causing the plane to be diverted to Charleston, South Carolina, from its original destination, LaGuardia Airport in New York, officials said.

Fabiola Dias, one of the 89 passengers on Flight 2028 recorded a short video from inside the cabin and uploaded it to Twitter after the plane safely landed.

"Landed safe and sound after smoke filled cabin [...] #neveradullday @Delta thx pilots," Dias wrote.

Passengers got pizza and drinks after the passengers were safe on the ground at Charleston International Airport, Dias told ABC News today.

Delta spokesman Morgan Durrant said the flight followed procedures to divert "after a performance issue with one of the Boeing MD-88 aircraft’s two engines was observed."

He added the plane landed safely and taxied to a gate where technicians were examining the aircraft and that another aircraft from Atlanta would continue the flight to LaGuardia.

"Delta’s top priority on every flight is safety and apologizes for the delay," Durrant said.
