— -- Donald Trump and Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly -- who have had a long-standing feud stemming from the first Republican debate -- met today in Trump's office.

Kelly said later on her show that they "cleared the air" and that she requested the hour-long meeting, which happened late this morning.

In a town hall with Fox News host Sean Hannity, Trump said Kelly was "very, very nice." "I think it was just maybe it was time...I give her a lot of credit for doing what she did," he added.

No further details or what was discussed were immediately available.

“FOX News Chairman & CEO Roger Ailes has spoken to Donald Trump a few times over the past three months about appearing on a FOX Broadcasting special with Megyn Kelly airing on May 23," said a Fox News spokesperson in a statement to ABC News. "Kelly requested a meeting with Mr. Trump, which took place at Trump Tower this morning. The results of that meeting will be revealed on tonight’s Kelly File at 9PM/ET. Kelly has acknowledged in recent interviews that Trump is a fascinating person to cover and has electrified the Republican base.”

Moments Trump Has Come Under Fire Over Comments About Women

There has been tension between the Republican presidential candidate and Kelly dating back to last August.

In a question to Trump at the first Republican primary debate, Kelly recounted derogatory remarks she said the GOP hopeful has made about women, from “fat pigs” to “dogs, slobs and disgusting animals.”

Trump felt the question was unfair and criticized Kelly.

Trump told CNN the next day: “There was blood coming out of her eyes, blood coming out of her wherever."

In an interview with ABC's "This Week" in August, Trump clarified that he meant Kelly's nose when he said "wherever."

Kelly told CBS News’ Charlie Rose that neither she or her employer wanted “any sort of war” with the business mogul and that Trump “was obviously upset” with her question.

“That's fine; he's running for president, it's not a fun business, there's gonna be ups and downs and I know he considered that a down,” Kelly said.

The last time the two met was in March, at the Fox News debate in Michigan, and their interaction seemed cordial.

“Mr. Trump, Hi. How are you doing?" Kelly asked.

“Hello. Nice to be with you, Megyn,” Trump responded. “You’re looking well, you’re looking well.”
