Duchess Kate Dazzles at Foster Care Charity Event
— -- The Duchess of Cambridge looked regal in a royal blue dress to celebrate the achievements of foster care givers and children at an awards ceremony at the British Medical Association.
The $1,000 dress is from the Indian designer, Saloni. Kensington Palace recently announced the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would be making their first trip ever to India next spring.
At today's event, Kate presented the Fostering Excellence Award to three young people between the ages of 16 and 24 who have made extraordinary achievements while being in the foster care system.
"I would just like to say how delighted I am to be with you all," Kate said at the ceremony. "It's wonderful to meet so many remarkable and impressive people involved in the incredibly important world of fostering."
The Duchess of Cambridge will also be a guest at a tea party tonight also hosted by The Fostering Network, a UK-based organization that provides for fostered children and the families that take care of them.
The Duchess, 33, did not go home empty handed. The charity said the Duchess was presented with two handmade quilts for her two children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, at the awards ceremony.
Earlier today, Prince William and Kate paid a special visit to the French Ambassador's residence in London to sign a condolence book for the victims of last Friday's attacks in Paris. The future King and Queen of England wrote in the book, "To all those who have died and were injured in the heartless attacks and to all those in France, nos plus sinceres condolences."
Tonight, Prince William is attending a friendly soccer match at London's Wembley Stadium. British Prime Minister David Cameron will also be in attendance. Prince William is president of the the U.K.'s Football Association.
"Tonight's game is a chance to pay tribute to the bravery and resolve of the French people and the French team, who were of course affected directly by Friday's attacks," said a Kensington Palace spokesman. "Going ahead with the game is a powerful message of Britain's friendship and partnership with France in the face of people who are intent on dividing societies."
In one of the most sophisticated security operations ever in the U.K., scores of armed police are on guard to protect the 80,000 fans headed to Wembley Stadium. Heavily armed anti-terror officers, sniffer dogs and armed police were out in force before the game, monitoring the crowds for any sign of terrorism.
Wembley’s arches are lit in the blue, white and red of the French tricolor and the stadium is displaying the words, "Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite."
