Fall Travel Deals Predicted for Canadian Cities

Oct. 1, 2013— -- Those looking to make a quick getaway this fall can snag some significant deals in Canadian cities, including Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, according to recent data released by online booking site Hotwire.

"Based on key data for autumn travel, our experts have uncovered Toronto and Vancouver as deal destinations across the board and have projected ways to save on hotel, air and car rental bookings so consumers can feel empowered to take control of their fall vacations," a Hotwire representative told ABC News.

Currently, hotel, flights and car rentals are all up between 3 percent and 5 percent over fall 2012. But depending upon when you make your reservation, travelers can still claim some savings.

The best deals for hotels will be seen seven days or less prior to arrival, said Hotwire representatives. If Montreal isn't your cup of tea, domestic markets ripe for savings on lodging include Phoenix, San Diego, Washington, D.C., Palm Springs and Chicago.

To score the best airfare for your money, Hotwire recommends booking on Monday or Tuesday and flying on Tuesday or Wednesday to avoid full flights. In addition to Toronto and Vancouver, fall deals are projected for bookings to Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

Montreal and Toronto also made the list of "deal markets" for car rentals this fall, as do New York and Chicago.

"Rental agencies tend to give their best deals to longer-term renters, i.e. those who shop on a Monday and book for a full seven or 14 days," Hotwire told ABC News.

But a little haggling over the phone never hurt anyone.
