Parts of southeast Texas are facing life-threatening flash flooding on Wednesday as the remnants of Tropical Storm Edouard slam the region with heavy rain.

A flash flood emergency was issued in Hardin and Tyler counties where 10 to 21 inches of rain has fallen so far with rainfall rates reaching a whopping 5 inches per hour.

A level 4 of 4 -- the highest level for flash flooding -- has been issued for the region as the life-threatening conditions are expected to continue into the afternoon, with rainfall rates possibly reaching 4 inches per hour.
